"There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all."
— Jacqueline Kennedy
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go."
-Dr Suess "I can read with my eyes shut!"
It is beautiful to watch our children's unfolding love of books. Mr 5 has started to attempt to read, and occasionally will even read to his sister. His sister missed out on reading from a very young age (we read to our son every night from about 5 months old, but we didn't manage it second time around) but from watching her brother read, watching us reading to him, she has developed her own intense love affair with books. Phew! Her absolute favourites are the Hairy Maclarey series and a warning to any who think they may refuse this young woman's request to be read to!!
When I saw the beautiful Magnolia blooming at the farm, it reminded me of the gorgeous photos I took last year of my little honey pot, under the tree, surrounded by discarded flowers. I love how nature has its own way of marking time and seeing how much my little one will grow and change while that tree and those flowers remain the same.
Its amazing to see such discernible changes in her- from a passive, barely aware baby to the interactive, curious and tactile little toddler. Both beautiful in their own ways. But I must confess, I LOVE this age!

Wow, how quickly has the year gone? my tiny baby now a walking, talking (sort of) one year old! Not to mention Mr 5, off to school next year. I'm going to miss him like crazy!
These are a month old and while I thought I'd get away with passing these off as one-year old photos, she has grown so much that I'll have to find time for some proper ones (hopefully before shes two!!) to capture the new teeth, the walking and how much shes gone and changed on me.
Here is another from Mr T's Birthday (yeah, yeah, no pants again!) I have to explain- I thought it would save time if I reverted back to jpeg type files in that I wouldn't have to convert then edit them (I have actually been taking a decent amount of photos, its the time it takes to upload & edit which prohibits me from posting more often...I don't get to sit at the computer much at all these days). But alas, when I uploaded the first batch I remembered why I love RAW and how it actually saves me time in editing. So thats why this photo looks a bit different!
Oh, and I have to boast, I made this cake...from scratch! AND it was yummy! whats the big deal you ask? that never seems to happen for me! So I'm very proud :) AND EVEN TAL ATE IT even more bizarro ;) Here's the inspiration for any of you, who like me find it hard to make a good cake. Yummy Banana Cake Happy Cooking!
P.S In case you are wondering why I've reverted back to a text & photo post instead of my usual photo only post....we've all had the flu (nasty!) so both kids are having long naps at the same time....very unusual these days.
I wanted to get some photos of A feeding, while she's still a baby (she's almost 1 already!) because I know all to well how quickly she will grow up and how much I will miss it. So, my lovely sister captured these images for me. I hope you love them as much as I do.
“Breastfeeding is an unsentimental metaphor for how love works, in a way. You don't decide how much and how deeply to love - you respond to the beloved, and give with joy exactly as much as they want.” [Marni Jackson]
